Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces "destroy the invaders wherever we can." While Telegram has been embroiled in controversy for much of its life, it has become a vital source of communication during the invasion of Ukraine. That means the company could, in theory, access the content of the messages, or be forced to hand over the data at the request of a government. Lastly, the web previews of t.me links have been given a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-features Telegram Web client. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements.
